Dispute Resolution

While we welcome any positive comments you may have, it is equally important for us to know when you have a problem so that we can resolve it and retain your confidence.

To save yourself valuable time, gather all the facts and documents about the complaint, think about the questions you want answered and decide what you want us to do.

Once you have compiled all the relevant information, contact our Customer Service team using any of the contact details above.

If you are not satisfied with our response and wish to proceed further then you may take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service, an independent complaint handling body.

The Ombudsman can generally deal with claims of $500,000 or less if your complaint concerns stockbroking or investment advice services offered by us (if your complaint involves a dispute regarding separate transactions or financial advice that occurred on separate occasions the $500,000 limit may apply for each transaction or advice in dispute).

Before the Ombudsman can investigate, you must have first given us the opportunity to review it. The Ombudsman cannot investigate problems that, for example:

  • involve a claim for more than $500,000
  • involve a commercial decision by a bank, such as whether a loan is approved or if an account has been closed
  • involve our general policy or practice, such as interest rates or fees.

Is a special connection required for MarketPro?

MarketPro is an internet-based application. A broadband connection is highly recommended; a 56k modem connection is the minimum. You should contact your network administrator to confirm that access will be available.

Can I still use the CommSec Adviser Services trading website for trading while logged on to MarketPro?

Certainly — you can use either service at any time. When you are logged on to MarketPro, your CommSec Adviser Services trading website session will remain active, so you can switch easily between platforms. For example, you might access streaming market data via MarketPro while placing trades via the CommSec Adviser Services trading website.

Can I access MarketPro from any PC?

Yes, you can login from any computer that has an internet connection and the required operating standards and browser settings, wherever it is in the world. Please note that you can only login to MarketPro from one machine at a time.

What are the requirements for my computer?

To run MarketPro, you need:

  • A Pentium 3500MZH class machine with a minimum of 256MB RAM.
  • A network connection quality of a 56k modem or above — broad band is highly recommended.
  • Latest versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
  • Your browser needs to be Java enabled, with Sun Java 8 update 25 or later installed. You can download the most recent version from www.java.com
  • A colour monitor of at least 15”, with resolution greater than 1024 X 768. We recommend a 17” colour monitor.
  • To run the Excel Add-in (DDE), you will need Microsoft Office Excel 2003 or later version.

Can I access MarketPro via a Mac?

Apple Mac is not officially supported by MarketPro, but users may access it via a later version of Mac OS X – Tiger, which permits Java applets to operate in the Safari browser .

What are the recommended browsers for MarketPro?

Our recommended browsers for MarketPro are the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.

Can I access MarketPro using Google Chrome as my web browser?

Unfortunately Google Chrome does not support Java plugins and so is not compatible with MarketPro. Our recommended browsers for MarketPro are the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
